Frequently asked questions
What is the ISA allowance for 2026/27?
£20,000 in total across all your ISAs (cash, stocks and shares, innovative finance and Lifetime ISA). The allowance resets each tax year on 6 April and doesn't roll over.
How much can I put in a Lifetime ISA?
Up to £4,000 a year, which sits inside the overall £20,000. The government adds a 25% bonus on top, so paying in £4,000 earns you £1,000.
What's changing in 2027?
From 6 April 2027, the amount you can put in a cash ISA drops to £12,000 for under-65s (those 65 and over keep the full £20,000). The overall £20,000 allowance stays the same — you'd just need to use a stocks and shares ISA for the rest.
